Once upon a time…

What better way to start celebrating 50 years of Lake D’Arbonne than a quick look at the history of the lake and a few facts and figures: The dream of Lake D’Arbonne became reality in 1957, the Louisiana state legislature appropriated over one million dollars with the promise of more appropriations later, for the D’Arbonne … Continue reading

Yep: She’s 50!

There aren’t many ladies that appreciate you sharing information on concerning how old they are, but a grand lady of a lake — Lake D’Arbonne — turns 50 years old in October of this year and we’ll be celebrating her birthday with lots of facts, figures and stories about the lake on this website in … Continue reading

Archery season for deer opens in Louisiana Tuesday, October 1, and runs through January 31, 2014. Louisiana Tech played Tulane in Ruston Thursday night, and among the celebrities honored were former Tech QB’s Phil Robertson and that guy that used to play for Pittsburgh, oh yes, Terry Bradshaw, I think. Some of the crowd had a good idea and shared it in pretty bold fashion. Thumbs up!

If you love the outdoors, you’ll want to make sure and make the Lake D’Arbonne Country Sportsman’s Expo in Farmerville part of your Fall, too. Mark your calendar:  Saturday, September 21. It is also a really great day to help young people learn … Continue reading

Now they’ve gone and d(r)one it….

I try not to get political on this site because it’s about entertainment and the outdoors. But I gotta tell you, it’s going to take something special to drone out the laughter on this one. Forget dove, duck and deer season…. Here’s the story: Hunters out west are lining up for a hot new license: … Continue reading

We remember

God Bless America. May we never forget or take for granted what makes our country great. And may we never let the forces of darkness, of wrong, of evil, or of apathy, overcome it. Take time today to remember those who died, those who were heroes and their families and the cowardly, brutal attack on … Continue reading

Teal season recipe

If hunting teal was like cooking, there would almost always seem to be a missing ingredient. The “ideal” recipe for teal season — cool weather, plenty water, migrating birds, good limits, etc. — just doesn’t ever seem come together like a fine meal. Teal season is just a couple of days away. This year, numbers … Continue reading
