Yep: She’s 50!

There aren’t many ladies that appreciate you sharing information on concerning how old they are, but a grand lady of a lake — Lake D’Arbonne — turns 50 years old in October of this year and we’ll be celebrating her birthday with lots of facts, figures and stories about the lake on this website in the coming weeks. And as our website moniker says, some of them will even be TRUE! Lake D’Arbonne is an amazing lake, and at 50, she’s still one of the top fish producing lakes in the south.

This Saturday at the Lake D’Arbonne Country Sportsman’s Expo, one of the features will be a display of old items from the lake’s history. One of the special guests at the event will be Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Inland Fisheries Director Mike Wood. Mike is a native of West Monro50the and fished D’Arbonne for years before joining the LDWF and working his way to the top of the fisheries division. I’m proud to say he’ll be spending time with us in the lakedarbonnelife.com booth Saturday. Come by and talk to him and share stories about Lake D’Arbonne. He’ll be there from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. He’s also always gracious about answering questions about the lake and the management of it. Nobody loves this lake more than him, from a personal and professional standpoint. We will share one of his favorite stories from the lake in Friday’s writeup. Don’t miss it. And don’t miss the Expo.

One more thing. Contrary to fast-spreading rumors, I will NOT be taking part in the DUCKMEN look-a-like contest posing as Willie. That should come to the relief of many, most of all, Willie.
