Deer sign everywhere!

It’s still a month until the Louisiana deer season begins, but there is deer sign everywhere!

This past weekend, the highway was buzzing with pick-em-up trucks pulling trailers loaded with four-wheelers, six-wheelers, deer stands, deer stand parts, bushhogs…and water coolers (it’s still blazing hot out there). At the local sporting goods store, people were lined up waiting to buy licenses, shells, orange vests and the like. And bags of corn.

And those piles of 40-pound bags of corn are slowly disappearing from local suppliers, apparently being transported to the woods to attract Mr. Deer.  See.  Deer signs! All are signs that deer season is near. Below is a schedule of deer hunting seasons and a map of corresponding deer hunting areas.  Be safe out there.
