I don’t know anybody who is waiting for his phone to ring today more than Farmerville’s Jason Williams. Jason recently caught a tagged fish in Cabella’s Fish For Millions on Lake D’Arbonne. The contest officially ended at midnight Sunday night. Now Jason has to wait while the folks at Cabella’s figure out how many tagged fish were caught across the country and what Jason is eligible to win. It could be a shopping spree at Cabella’s, a new Chevy truck, a new Ranger bass boat or cash prizes up to a million dollars. Yep. A million dollars. That’s a one, two commas and six zeroes!
If you bump into Jason today, don’t worry if he looks sleepy. He may not get much Sunday night. Wildlife and Fisheries folks have been tagging fish in D’Arbonne for three years and this is the first one caught and reported. I kind of think that if somebody had caught one that said “Cabella’s Fish for Millions” they would have told somebody!
For now, nobody knows how many of the 1,500 specially tagged fish released into lakes in 22 states have been caught. There’s a chance Jason’s could be the only one. Wouldn’t that be something. Cabella’s is being more closed mouthed than a bass after a cold front. But we should find out something Monday. When he finds out, Jason will let us know and we will break into regularly scheduled “blogcasting” and let you know as soon as we do. Stay tuned to lakedarbonnelife.com during the day today.
FOURTH OF JULY WAS SPECIAL!
I don’t know how you can tell officially, but I think there were about twice as many folks lining the banks of Lake D’Arbonne and in their boats in the water this Fourth of July than ever before! It was super, and it was capped off by a fantastic fireworks show that rivaled any I’ve seen in our area. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in it! If you missed it this year, go to your calendar right now and pen in next year’s date. What? You don’t have a 2014 calendar yet? Well, go get one. Here are a few scenes from around the lake captured by lakedarbonnelife.com over the long holiday weekend:
