I met David Harrell shortly after I moved to Lake D’Arbonne and quickly found the Farmerville resident to be very serious about his job. He’s an Enforcement Agent with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. And no, George, I didn’t meet him because he gave me a ticket.
I had some questions about making sure my boat had all the proper safety equipment to be legal and he helped me out. I see him regularly now and he showed me a photo last week of something else he takes very seriously: bass fishing on Lake D’Arbonne, where he also lives.
“I caught her down on the big lake and she put up some kind of fight,” David said. “She was full of eggs. We took some pictures and I put her back in.”
Every since then, I’ve been following David on the lake to see where he’s fishing, but haven’t been able to catch that monster bass yet.OK, not really.
But seriously, I really appreciate the job that the enforcement agents like David do to protect our fish and wildlife resources and it’s good to see them out on the lake on their time off enjoying the fruits of their labor. Good catch!
