It’s not often that the fishing in Lake D’Arbonne gets shown up by another activity, but that was the case this past weekend.
The annual Antique Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show at Lake D’Arbonne State Park between Bernice and Farmerville had a record number of entrants and a record crowd.
“It was fantastic,” said Jon Witherington of the Park staff. “We had more than 200 cars and 100 motorcycles on display. The park was completely full. We had right at 2,500 visitors through the park gates Saturday. And the park was booked to capacity with all the cabins and camping spots full. I really appreciate the turnout and all the help we had putting the show together. And we won’t stop now. There are still things that we can do to make it bigger and better.”
Congratulations to Jon and all the folks at the park and in the parish that helped make this a success, including the many sponsors and those that donated time and prizes. A lot of these visitors were first-time visitors to the park and our parish and you can bet they’ll be back. We will share the winners from the show with you in a few days.
In closing, I’d like to remind folks that there are an abundance of resources, facilities and activities in our parish and region that can help make it continue to grow and be in the spotlight. When everyone works together to promote our area, it makes it a better place for us to live, brings visitors in who spend money and help our local businesses and those visitors also have fun and talk up our parish! That’s a win – win – win!
