D’Arbonne Car Show Saturday!

It’s here!  The annual Antique Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show at Lake D’Arbonne State Park between Bernice and Farmerville is one of the largest events at the park each spring and it’s a keeper! This year’s event is Saturday, March 16. People bringing cars need to be there by 9 a.m. and the show is open to the public from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The showcars is free, but you do have to pay $1 per person entry fee to the State Park. You won’t find this kind of event for a dollar very often!

“We are expecting over 200 cars and trucks and probably about 100 motorcycles,” says Jon Witherington of the park staff. “And it isn’t unusual for us to have 1,000 people come through during the day. It’s  a very popular event.”

Many of the entrants come the night before and stay at the park. One of the cool events is on Friday night when the cars and motorcycles cruise down Hwy. 2 from the park into the Sonic in Farmerville. Anybody can come by and take part in that.  At the actual show, members of the public are given ballots to vote for the People’s Choice awards for the entrants. TRIAD of Union will also be selling hamburger plates and vending, there will be two bands and shuttle services will be available for those that have to park in lots away from the immediate area.

The car show headquarters will be at the Visitor’s Center.
