Bream moving shallow

ice fish

The bream seem to be moving up shallow and fishermen are congregating on the flats, even though the lake is frozen solid. They are hitting cold worms best.

Okay, okay, okay.  It’s too cold to go outside and I’m just messing with you. What? You thought EVERYTHING you were going to read on a fishing website was true? No, these pictures are NOT from Lake D’Arbonne Tuesday….

I hope you got to stay warm Tuesday. Avoid putting yourself in dangerous situations with the cold or ice today as well. It ice breamisn’t very often we have to worry about the boat ramps icing over keeping us from going fishing. But that time is here, at least for one more day. As for the ice fishing, I’m glad to leave that to the guys from up Nawth!

WATER update: Lake D’Arbonne stayed steady at 82.4 feet for most of the past 24 hours. Even if we get a drizzling rain today, it should start to drop very slowly late Wednesday. The North wind we have had the past several days has also helped push the high water toward and over the spillway.  Still hoping for the best for lake residents with homes and camps at lower levels…It looks like we’ll dodge a bullet this time, but we can’t be sure just yet.
