Mr. Frog is full

Well, it was nice while it lasted.

The official lakedarbonnelife.com “Mr. Frog” rain gauge is officially full. And, I might add, running over. That means five inches of rain – PLUS.  Some neighbors reported their six inch rain gauges were overflowing as well.

The drawdown has turned into a riseup.  D’Arbonne was at 75.31 feet Saturday before the area deluges. The the lake stood at 76.26 feet Monday  and is projected to rise back close to 78 feet by next  Saturday.

The question of basic math arises when you try to explain that five inches of rain raises the lake by three feet, but it isn’t as simple as that. That is why the science of water flow has a fancy name like hydrology!  The lake commission was nearing its desired drawdown level of five feet, but it will now take another two weeks  or so to get back to where the lake was Saturday.

If all this has confused you, just think how the fish feel…

Remember, you can check the daily level of local lakes and rivers and upcoming trends by clicking on the link to the right. And don’t give up on the D’Arbonne drawdown. It’ll eventually get down again and hopefully stay long enough for people to work on their boats and piers and to kill some of the aquatic vegetation.

Duck Dynasty quote of the day  (9 days and counting until Season Two):
“I am the MacGyver of cooking. If you bring me a piece of bread, cabbage, coconut, mustard greens, pigs feet, pine cones…and a woodpecker, I’ll make you a good chicken pot pie.” — Si
