Today I want to share a few photos from the Lake Country Expo where we got to meet and tal
k to about 500 people at the Outdoor Expo Saturday. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope you did, too. Two items in our display drew loads of attention. First, the old 1970’s framed hand-drawn map of Lake D’Arbonne was a big hit. Most people noted that places like Jake’s, D’Arbonne Village and Massengale’s Landing are no longer here, but there are lots of new landmarks and businesses that have taken their place. Almost everybody who lives on the lake that looked at the map took a few minutes to look up the place on the lake where they live.
Second, the two 1950-60’s vintage 3-horsepower motors got a lot of
comments, including “Hey, I used to fish with one just like that” or “I’ve still got an old one like that out in the barn”. We had a great time and will have the same display at the Monroe Office of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries this Saturday for National Hunting and Fishing Day. Hope to see you there. It looks like the weather will be great.
Thanks for the support in our first five days of lakedarbonnelife.com. As of 7 p.m. last night we had 316
visitors yesterday and almost 1,200 so far. You keep coming and we’ll keep finding good news and stories to share with you.
NOTE: We’ve had several requests for how to have information posted on lakedarbonnelife.com. If you or your group have an outdoor event or news, e-mail it to us at darbone1@gmail.com and we’ll either put it on the front page or in the Louisiana Outdoor News section. We want to include items of interest to a variety of people in the great outdoors! And the outdoors around here is great!
