I must say that I usually try my best to avoid thugs, especially when I know they are armed and known to be an extremely good shot with a weapon that doesn’t even go “bang” when you shoot it.
However, Saturday I’m looking forward to meeting Kevin Burleson, one of the five co-hosts of “Mossy
Oak Deer T.H.U.G.S.” on the Pursuit TV Channel. He will be talking about bowhunting techniques at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the demonstration arena of the Lake Country Sportsman’s Expo in Farmerville Saturday.
He will be on hand throughout the day to share hunting tales, sign autographs and take photos. More on him later in today’s writeup.
It’s going to be a busy day at the Willie Davis Recreation Center! Besides the bowhunting demos, there will also be demonstrations on baitcasting, falconry, kayaking, martial arts, actual deer scoring, and much more.
Kids will love the 4-H archery range and the National Wild Turkey Federation air gun shooting gallery.
View the always-awesome Trophy Wall of wild game mounts, and entries in the Wildlife Photo Contest and a display of cool cars, trucks and bikes. And oh, yes, there will be a display by lakedarbonnelife.com. Who would want to miss that? Food and drinks will be available. The event is presented by the Union Parish Chamber of Commerce. Admission is $5 (12 & under free and military and law enforcement get in free with I.D.).
But back to Kevin Burleson. After a little research, I found that I don’t have to worry about him being a real thug. Seems that “T.H.U.G.” really stands for Today’s Hunters Uniting for Good. Hey, that’s a good thing.
And even though I’m not a bowhunter, his presentations will be very entertaining and informative. You can learn more about him at his website, http://www.heartoftexasbowhunting.com. Come out and see him. Support the show and the good things we have to celebrate in the North Louisiana outdoors. See you at the show!
