Plenty of light

If it wasn’t so hot, I’d really love this time of year. I still like it, though. Why? There’s plenty of light. It’s light enough to fish at 5:30ish a.m. and isn’t too dark to fish until 8:30+ p.m. If you like to do things outdoors, that’s pretty cool.  Light even gives us a special … Continue reading

The Lake Mulligans

About two weeks into the first “test drives” of my website, lakedarbonnelife.com, in late 2012, two friends tried to help me spread the word by sending emails to all their friends and people who owed them money trying to help me boost my early readership. They provided morale and financial support. Both encouraged me to … Continue reading

Gator Getters

About ten times a week, someone comes to this site because they have “Googled” Jeromy Pruitt or David LaDart of “Swamp People” TV fame. Since I’ve written about them, people end up here by the search engine. Season Four of “Swamp People” is currently underway and the two area gator hunters are making their mark. … Continue reading

Smiling winners…

Here are some of the smiling winners from this past weekend’s Majestic Bass tournament on Lake D’Arbonne! Congratulations! For more details on the winning catches, check yesterday’s lakedarbonnelife.com …

Parent’s catch most Majestic

Saturday’s MAJESTIC Big Bass Classic on Lake D’Arbonne delivered as promised.  Or I should say, the fishermen (and women) delivered. Kendall Parent of West Monroe delivered the first place catch to the scales, an 8.33 pound largemouth that netted him $3,190. That’s almost $400 a pound! He caught the fish Saturday morning and weighed it … Continue reading

The fish catch a break

The little dock was empty. The ice chest was there. There were rods in the rod holders. The yo-yo’s hung ready. It was the major biting period. The weather was beautiful. But nobody was home. Lucky fish “caught” a break!

Going home

JESUS TO THE DISCIPLES: “Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” — John 1:1-2

Today is Majestic

Don’t forget to come watch the weigh-ins or keep up with the leaders of the MAJESTIC Big Bass Classic on D’Arbonne Saturday and Sunday morning. You can catch the hourly weigh-ins at Ludwig Marine on Hwy. 33 just across the Ruston Bridge in Farmerville for 26 straight hours of bassin competition beginning at daylight Saturday … Continue reading

FOM on Caney

There were two teams of winners as the 7th season of the North Central Louisiana division of the Fishers of Men came to a close last Saturday.  The FOM final touranment was held on Caney Lake under overcast skies and temperatures in the mid-70s. The tournament winners were Craig Parker and Dusty Mobley, who weighed … Continue reading

At the bottom of Wham…

There’s probably a treasure trove of stuff that’s been dropped into Wham Brake over the past 60 or so years. Only bad thing is, it’s probably rusted, covered in years of silt…or worse.  In fact, I wouldn’t recommend attempted recovery at this point. But if you have ever wanted to see what the bottom of … Continue reading
