Two important items:
First, the lake crested Friday night!
Second, please be reminded that the LAKE IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED TO MOTORIZED BOAT TRAFFIC except for emergency situations. Waves from boats cause unnecessary damage. If you see anybody on the lake, report it to law enforcement.
Lake D’Arbonne actually stopped rising and started a slow fall overnight Friday night. At 8:00 a.m. Saturday, the lake is listed at 88.49 feet. It had been at 88.89 at 8 p.m. Friday night, crested there and has begun a slow fall.
There is no reason to expect it to rise again at this time and it should begin a slow fall if there is no more rain or unexpected of water from somewhere else in the drainage basin. I know of no reason that should happen. How fast it will fall is still unknown because of the quickly rising water below the spillway in Bayou D’Arbonne and the Ouachita River. Huge amounts of rainwater are also entering the river around Monroe and above, especially at Bayou Bartholomew.
After what we’ve witnessed the last three or four days, I’m not doing any weather or flood forecasting. Just trying to report what is happening. There is a possibility of more rain, but hopefully it is not widespread. Here’s the official look at the lake at 8 a.m. Saturday:
Prayers are with everyone involved. Stay safe out there. That’s the No. 1 priority. And help take care of each other.
